Now we introduce the fourth member of the group, Hiiko. You'll notice that his eyes are open and visible. It wasn't until we received a guest strip (during one of my, at the time, many strep illnesses) from Megami Jadeheart were she drew Hiiko with the "kitsune" half-circle eyes that we decided to adopt the look permanently for Hiiko.

We also get to see just how clueless Adrian was originally.

Adrian was supposed to be the comic one, and Pete the straight man, with Hiiko as the “token” and Gene as the foil. As time went on, I expanded Hiiko into the comic foil for everyone, and Pete and Adrian began to reverse roles, as Pete showed to be a lost soul, and Adrian far more knowing as to whom he was and what he was doing. Sadly, a lot of this was meant to occur in the story we never finished.
